Let respondents open surveys (guest access)

Use this guide to give your survey site's guest user the access it needs so respondents can open InPoll surveys. For admins.

Respondents are not logged in, so Salesforce treats them as the site's guest user. The InPoll Guest Permissions permission set lets that user open published surveys. It gives no access to responses, invitations or other InPoll data. InPoll saves each answer itself.

Before you start

• You created and activated a site, and chose it in InPoll Settings with Use this site. See Set up the survey site (guided).

Let InPoll assign it

1. Open the InPoll app, then the Surveys tab, then InPoll Settings.
2. In the Survey site for respondents card, go to step 3, Let respondents open surveys.
3. Click Assign it for me.
4. Wait for the message "Done: respondents on this site can now open InPoll surveys."

Step 3 shows Done and the button reads Already assigned. InPoll assigns the permission set with your own permissions, so you need permission to assign permission sets.

Assign it by hand

Use this path when Assign it for me is off, or when InPoll shows "Could not assign it".

1. Go to Setup. In the Quick Find box, enter Digital Experiences and click All Sites.
2. Open the site's Workspaces.
3. Go to Administration > Pages.
4. Click Go to Force.com.
5. Click Public Access Settings.
6. Click View Users.
7. Open the site's guest user.
8. Add the permission set InPoll Guest Permissions to the user, then save.

You do not need to clone the permission set. Assign the one that came with InPoll.

Check that it works

1. Go back to InPoll Settings and reload the page. Step 3 shows Done.
2. Click Test my survey link, or open a survey link in a private window.

If a login page or "Authorization Required" appears, the guest user does not have the permission set yet, or the site is not active. If a respondent sees "This survey can't be opened yet", step 3 is not finished.
