Use this guide to find your way around the InPoll Settings page and see what each of its three cards does. For admins.
Before you start
- You need the InPoll Admin Permissions permission set. See Give admins access to InPoll.
Open InPoll Settings
- Open the App Launcher and choose InPoll.
- Click the Surveys tab.
- In the left panel, click InPoll Settings.
The page heading is also InPoll Settings. The arrow next to it takes you back to Surveys. You set up each card once.

Survey site for respondents
This card has five steps. Each step shows Done or To do, except step 4, which is marked Recommended, and step 5, which is a test.
- 1. Create a site.
- 2. Choose the site in InPoll, with Use this site.
- 3. Let respondents open surveys, with Assign it for me.
- 4. Make the survey page the site's home page (recommended).
- 5. Test my survey link.
Ready means steps 1, 2 and 3 are done: an active site exists, you chose it, and its guest user has InPoll Guest Permissions. Until then the card shows Not finished, and links to your surveys do not open for respondents. For the full walk-through, see Set up the survey site (guided).
AI survey writer and sentiment (optional)
AI is optional. The AI survey generator uses your own OpenAI API key, so you pay OpenAI directly and control the usage. Everything else in InPoll works without a key. When you use AI, your survey prompts are sent to OpenAI.
The card lists the steps to add your key. People who use AI also need the InPoll Admin Permissions permission set. For the steps with details, read Set up AI with your OpenAI key. Sentiment analysis is not available yet.
Scheduled surveys
A survey with a start or end date is opened and closed by a nightly job. Start the job once for your org.
- In the Scheduled surveys card, click Start the nightly job.
- Wait for the message that the scheduled job has been initiated.
The status changes to Running and the button turns off. Without the job, a survey with a start or end date does not open or close by itself.
Good to know
- You do not need to configure sending or write-back here. Send surveys from the survey's Send screen or from a Flow, and write answers back with Response Mapping on the survey.
- Respondents who open a link before step 3 is done see "This survey can't be opened yet".
