Use this guide to publish a draft survey so that respondents can answer it. For survey creators.
Respondents can answer a survey only after you publish it. After you publish, you can send the survey from the Send screen or from a Flow.
Before you start
- Build the survey and add at least one question. A survey with no questions cannot be published. See Draft a survey.
- Preview and test the survey yourself or with a small group of users. This helps you find and fix errors before you reach a larger group. See Previewing and testing surveys.
- If you want to schedule the survey, set the dates first. See Schedule a survey.
- Set up the survey site so that respondents can open the link. See Set up the survey site (guided).
Publish a survey
- Open InPoll and go to the Surveys tab.
- Select the draft survey.
- In the panel on the left, find the status path with Draft, Published and Archived.
- Click Published.
InPoll shows a success message and the status changes to Published. InPoll sets the Start Date to today. If the survey has no End Date, InPoll sets it to one year from today.
After you publish
- Send the survey. The Send option now appears in the top bar of the survey. Use it to copy the public link, download a QR code, or email personal invitations. See Send a survey.
- Send automatically. To send the survey when something happens in Salesforce, for example when a Case closes, add the Send InPoll Survey action to a Flow. See Send a survey from any Flow.
- Write answers back. Use Response Mapping to put answers into Salesforce records. See Response mapping.
- Follow the responses on the Summary page.
- You cannot unpublish a survey. You can archive it, which stops the survey link from working but keeps the survey and its responses for analysis and reporting. See Archive a survey.
- You cannot add, delete, copy or reorder questions. If the survey already has responses, you also cannot save changes to its questions. To make changes, clone the survey, edit the copy and publish it. See Clone a survey.
Good to know
- If InPoll cannot publish and the message mentions the number of questions per page, set that number on the Survey Settings tab and try again.
