Use this guide to hide a question from respondents while keeping it in the survey. For survey creators.
Before you start
- Hidden Question is available for every question type except Rating and Section.
- A hidden question cannot be required. If Require an Answer to This Question is selected, turn it off first.
- Add the question first. See Create a survey.
Hide a question
- Open your survey in the builder.
- Go to the Questions tab.
- Find the question you want to change.
- Click the Actions button (the down arrow) at the right of the question.
- Click Edit.
- In the Advanced Settings panel, select Hidden Question.
- Click Done.
Show a hidden question again
- Find the hidden question. It has a Hidden Question badge.
- Click the Actions button, then click Edit.
- Clear Hidden Question.
- Click Done.
Good to know
- Respondents do not see a hidden question.
- A hidden question has no question number, and the other questions are numbered without it.
- If a hidden Short Answer or Paragraph question has a default value, InPoll records that value as the answer.
- Hidden questions do not appear in the questions you can choose when you build logic.
- Preview the survey before you publish it, to check that hidden questions do not affect the flow.
